Trend of the Day: Historic level of searches for Team USA shirts

It's a just a pattern I noticed, it's got a small search volume -- but it's definitely got me wondering if there's a vibe shift underway.

I’ve been feeling like there is a new patriotism emerging lately, partially in reaction to the weird anti-Olympics fervor by some in the U.S. — and maybe more just part of a more general vibe shift. My experience is an n of one of course, but this year is probably the first time I’ve thought of buying a U.S. Olympics shirt since I was a kid in 1984. So I got interested in whether others seemed to be feeling the same way. And the answer might be yes? The search trend is interesting, to say the least.

Searches for Team USA shirts over past 20 years. Recent searches aren’t finalized, but could be double that of any previous Olympics cycle.

These are of course pretty small search volumes, and the history mixes in other Team USA events such as soccer championships and the like. So caveat, YMMV, etc. But it’s definitely catching my interest as a pattern. I don’t know if this means anything, but I’ll try and think up some related views over the next few days and push on it a bit.
