Yes absolutely. Part of this comes from a deep look at tropes which I should talk about. As I looked at what tropes seemed to do they seemed to often be a way to turn events into evidence. For example there is a trope that an event like the submarine implosion is a wag the dog event, this allows you to use it as evidence of a deep plot to hide some greater evil. The trope of groomers has narrative resonance but also is a lens that turns simple educational interactions into evidence of pedophilia and corruption. The trope of controlled demolition gives you a set of evidence to look for after any explosion.
It's not the only lens, but as far as I can tell argumentation theory is one lens that's not well utilized in the field at *all* which seems very odd!
